What is Mediumship?
The aim of mediumship is to provide evidence of survival of the human personality beyond physical death, and through this to comfort the bereaved.
There are two forms of mediumship, mental and physical. The former is the most common and the one normally witnessed in public demonstrations. In this, spirit works through the medium's mind and he or she is able to sense, see, or hear spirit forms or sounds. This is called clairsentience, clairvoyance or clairaudience. A medium will use one or more of these forms of communication in order to convey messages from the spirit world.
What is a Medium?
Mediums are no different from the rest of us, they are ordinary people who have through training developed their natural psychic ability to communicate with the Spirit world, they are a link between both worlds the physical and the spirit world. Most people have Mediumistic abilities to some degree or other.
How do Mediums work?
Mediums work closely with their guides or helpers. A guide or helper will provide the communication link between the two worlds by blending with the medium's mind, so thoughts submitted from the spirit world can be translated by the medium into descriptions of places or people and the words of a message, through clairsentience, clairvoyance or clairaudience.
A medium can only make contact with someone in the spirit world who wishes to communicate with a person on earth.
Where do Mediums work?
Mediums work in a public meeting, in the smaller limits of a group of circle and in the intimacy of a private sitting.
Mediums also hold circles for the development of potential clairvoyants or speakers, and the larger open circles for initial development in which those present can take part.
Can Mediums tell fortunes?
Most definitely not. Spiritualist mediums do not tell fortunes. The purpose of this demonstration is to provide proof of survival of the human soul after death, not to predict the future, to give advice or to counsel.
Can Mediums tell my future?
Mediums cannot foretell your futre as your future is something which does not yet exist. However, because spirit is unburdened by physical minds and material influences, they can sometimes take a much broader and long-sigthed view of the likely outcome of our actions. Then, of course, they will try to make us aware of these likely situations before they arise.
