Spirit in the Wind
You are the breeze that ruffles my hair
And warm sunshine ripening corn;
You are soft rain, caressing the trees;
And the beauty of birdsong at dawn.
You are a counterpane of crisp leaves
And the rustle of footsteps on snow,
You are droplets of dew on a web
Spun by spiders - pains-taking, slow.
You are the solace we pray for at night
When our worries seem larger than life;
And you are the feeling of instinct we have
When we know a decision is right.
You are the flight of peace to our hearts -
A journey of healing kind;
Opening windows, revealing your light;
Unlocking closed doors in our mind.
You are the echo I hear in the wind -
Compassionate, full of pure love,
Nurturing man with wisdom and truth
Carried high on the wings of a dove.
So spirit of life may I walk close to you
Hand-in-hand, side-by-side with your arms,
And spirit of peace may I sleep in your arms,
Wrapped in heavenly cloak for a while.
